Robin's career has been a story in itself: before it really began he had already worked as an auxilliary nurse and in the sausage room at Bowyers...
He finally became educated and taught in schools in Solihull, Redditch, Hereford and Malvern - rising, in the end to the dizzy heights of Headteacer of a village school in Worcestershire.
He worked for Worceser Diocese as Children's Officer and still contributes to large-scale events such as the School's days at Worcester Cathedral where he leads the music and the singing of his own setting of the Eucharist. He has recently been heavily involved itn the Teme Valley Project with Kevin Crossley-Holland working on interpretive historical material from the time of King Arthur and King John.
Throughout all this Robin has told tales ...
historical, spiritual, traditional and original stories for adults, childrenand families...
to anyone who will listen...
Robin is based in the West Midlands but has told stories
in many places from Pontefract to Louisville (Kentucky, USA). His
repertoire draws from various traditions of folklore, faith and culture
and his tales are enhanced with a sprinkling of his own (and traditional)
music played on guitar, pipe, harp and various percussion instruments.
Besides traditional stories, Robin works with his own compositions
such as 'The Perfect Fruit' commissioned by Hereford Diocese and performed
to an audience of over 800 in Hereford Cathedral.
Robin's tales are often very funny but also draw the listener, to
emotional and spiritual peaks as you travel with the characters through
the stories. Robin has taken many of his stories into schools where
he has worked with learners of all ages.
Robin is active in all reas of promoting storytelling and is, at present,
Chair of Malvern Storytellers - see contact page for more.
