"Plenty to discuss with the children about what makes a good story..." A variety of stories from differnt parts of Africa. |
This selection of tales has great appeal for all ages. The stories are traditional African tales and involve a wide range of story types and forms - an excellent stimulus for discussion about forms of story and telling / writing techniques. The tales can be told to any age group but 'The girl who became a tree' is for the older children (Yr5+), it is a curious story which requires some mature thought! Anansi is always a favourite and The chestnut tree is claimed by at least 3 cultures; which do you think it is, British, French or ... Japanese?
